Robert Cheruiyot started his career as an Audit trainee and has risen over the years to Audit Supervisor. He holds a Bachelor of Commerce in Finance from KCA University and is fully qualified and registered with The Institute of Certified Public Accountants of Kenya and The Institute of Internal Auditors.
Robert has a career of seven (7) years in audit, tax, accounting and risk management. I have progressively developed the ability to generate and implement effective auditing procedures, evaluate organization’s systems and controls for adequacy and efficiency as well as formulating and discussing audit recommendations with management.
I have been involved extensively in carrying out external audit assignments for various clients such Uniworld Kenya, EkoRent Africa Ltd, Solutions General Ltd, Shinehome International Company, Know Advocates LLP, Yixi Company, among others.
Key areas of experience include:
- Execute and/or oversee audit planning, field work and audit reporting, prepare reports and communicate findings and recommendations to those charged with governance.
- Assisting in resolving tax matters between the clients and the relevant authorities.
- Advising clients on tax issues such as withholding tax, advance tax and instalment tax.
- Build and maintain strong client relationships through effective communication and professional conduct.
- Comply with auditing and accounting standards, relevant laws and regulations, ethical standards, independence requirements and quality control procedures.
- Manage assigned portfolio of clients and deliver high quality audit and assurance services.
- Assess, enhance and communicate clients’ internal controls and risk management processes.
- Filing statutory deductions on stipulated dates including Withholding tax and VAT.
- Conducting monthly bookkeeping for clients and providing reports.

- Review team members’ work for accuracy and compliance with the firms’ policies.
- Coordinate periodical audits.
- Review of the existing internal control systems of the company, review of standard operating procedures and making adequate recommendations on their contents and adequacy, ensuring the company is run in accordance with the Companies Act and the International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS).
- Overall risk assessment, preparation and presentation of audited financial statements and management letter to the client.
- Review of assets acquisition, recording, disposal and security procedures.
- Develop audit programs and testing procedures relevant to risk and test objectives.
- Ensure audit conclusions are based on a complete understanding of the process, circumstances and risk.
- Execute effective and thorough application of all internal audit standards with assigned responsibility.
- Analyze and assess financial statements and internal controls.
- Identify and communicate issues raised, offering recommended solutions to business and risks.
